Paris Baguette picks Chinatown for second Las Vegas location

Korean-owned bakery chain Paris Baguette has expanded off the Strip by opening its second Las Vegas spot, on Spring Mountain Road.

The cafe offers pastries, bread, coffee, sandwiches, salads, ice cream and cakes. Customers can pick up a tray and serve themselves most of the pastries and breads available, or order additional items from the counter.

The Paris-inspired cafe opened in October 2015 at The Venetian, where it occupies two stories near the St. Mark’s Square area. At the time, it was the brand’s 45th store to open in the United States. There are now over 60 such locations.

Most of Paris Baguette’s locations are in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York, said company spokesman Dave Lazaro. The company chose Chinatown for a Las Vegas location because of its access to tourists as well as residents, Lazaro said.

Coffee, tea and espresso drinks cost between $1.75 (small, black coffee) and $5.25 (large, iced peppermint mocha). Toasted sandwiches come in one size and include caprese, four cheese, chicken pesto and turkey and mozzarella ($7.50-$8).

Each Paris Baguette has core items, like pastries and sandwiches, but menus will differ “based on the taste buds of the community,” Lazaro said. For example, The Venetian location offers poke bowls.

Pastries include croissants ($3), fruit tarts, macarons ($2.50 each) and doughnuts (80 cents-$3.50). There are also potato and mushroom rolls ($1.50), egg tarts ($1.75), ham-and-cheese bread ($2.75) and pastry franks ($2.95). Cake slices are $4.50-$4.75 in flavors such as chocolate, blueberry yogurt, mocha and chocolate-strawberry. Full cakes are $27-$35.

Paris Baguette is at the former home of Japanese restaurant Yu-Yu, which opened in 2012 and closed in April.

In 2012, Paris Baguette became the first Korean bakery to open 100 stores in China, according to the company’s website. There are over 3,000 locations in South Korea, and in 2014 the chain opened its first location in Paris.
